Back to Work Sydney

Corporate Sydney

February is the month when Sydney’s corporates get back to work.

The summer days of January seem a distant memory when there is work to be done.

To kickstart February many of our clients have ramped up their catering.

Many have started to schedule their boardroom lunches for the year. This is an ideal time to catch up with key clients or partners.

For more information on our Boardroom Lunch menus, visit our boardroom page.

Carols in the Domian

Many Sydneysiders will know of the traditional Carols in the Domain. It is Sydney’s largest free Christmas concert, and screens live across Australia on The Seven Network. In 2016 the theme will be of ‘Christmas Traditions’.

Carols by Candlelight are a time-honoured tradition for families across Australia who sing-along to Australia’s best-loved performers and favourite Christmas songs. Now, in its 34th year, the iconic Christmas celebration will start a new tradition – for the first time ever the show will take place on a Sunday!

As it is a free concert, it would not happen without the generous support of the sponsors.  This year’s major sponsor is Woolworths.

Woolworths will be showcasing Bertocchi Ham at the event, and have asked Amory Catering to facilitate the catering activation.  Woolworths and Bertocchi will be offering sample taste tests of their signature Double Smoked Ham.

Oh, and don’t forget to visit Woolies Gingerbread House.

Caltex Socceroos

Today the Caltex Socceroos take on Japan in a World Cup Qualifier at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.

Both teams have designs on an automatic spot at the World Cup in Russia in 2018.

But what does Football in Melbourne have to do with Catering in Sydney?

Well, Caltex is a longstanding client of Amory Catering.  We have been providing Boardroom Catering to the Caltex Board of Directors the past six years.  We like to think that after enjoying a delicious boardroom lunch prepared by our chefs, the board decided to sponsor the Socceroos in a four-year deal.

Meat Chandelier

Our team recently joined forces with Merrick Watts and Triple M street team to stage Australia’s largest Meat Chandelier BBQ.

Full event images can be found on Triple M’s website.

Triple M has been a regular client of Amory Catering since 2004.  Amory Catering works closely with Triple M and sister station 2DayFM to stage external event throughout Sydney.

However, the “Meat Chandelier” has to have been one of the most unusual requests.

Corporate Christmas Party Catering

So, it is your responsibility to organize the annual Corporate Christmas Party.  Well we have a checklist to help you on your way.

Checklist

Firstly decide who is running the event. –  If it is a large event, consider an event management company.  But if the event is less than say 100 guests, then it may be oranized by someone inhouse or a committee of staff. Often your caterer will be able to provide advice on the event operations.

Next you need to set the date – Make sure the people you want at the party are available.  The date may change based on the availability of many of the items in the checklist below.

Next decide who will be invited. Is the event for staff, clients, suppliers or a combination of all three.

Set your budget – Find out what the budget is, then move on to arranging the event within the budget.   It is a waste of your time to “get ideas” and quotes if it will never be approved.

Decide how to spend the budget.  You will need to prioritize what are the important aspects of the event and how to allocate the budget.

Decide on the style – ask yourself if the event will have a theme.

Next up is the venue.  Venue space is limited for Christmas parties.  The venue must both be available and be ideally suited to your size and style.   Remember, if the venue is too big for your guest numbers, it will impact on the atmosphere.  Also consider the location carefully, especially transport options to and from the venue at the end of the event.

Theming, styling and decorations – Make it look good.  The styling really sets the theme of the occasion.   If you are going to the effort to hold the event,  make sure everyone remembers it.

Find a caterer –  The most important part of booking a Christmas party.  Call us now to discuss your event.

Entertainment – Make it appropriate for the event.

Most importantly, make the Booking.  Don’t be left without an option.  Suppliers will not usually hold space or availability for you if they have not heard from you.

And finally – enjoy yourself

Fox Sporting Nation

The “Fox Sporting Nation” campaign is now in full swing.

We helped launch the campaign in February with a star studded event in Sydney.

Amory was the catering partner for the event held in Sydney’s newest CBD catering event space, The Cuttaway at Barangaroo.

The event comprised of the who’s who of this nation’s sporting media.

Sports represented included NRL, AFL, Rugby Union, Athletics, V8 Supercars, Netball and Surfing.

Feedback

We are always looking to improve our catering service.  An important aspect of this is to gain feedback from our clients on our performance at each event.

Today we have uploaded our feedback form so clients can now provide feedback online.
